Family Day Sunday: General Cleaning

It was raining Sunday last week. Thinking of what to do during this kind of weather in a weekend? Well, we ended up with a general cleaning at home. Masyado na kasi maraming kalat. Hehehe.

Paparapapa...Love Ko 'To

The other day, our little angel doesn't want us to leave for work. As usual, bolahan na naman.

Me: Lika dito. Anu gustong pasalubong? (Come here. What pasalubong do you want?)
Matt: Ice cream.
Me: Sige, papasok na kami ni Mommy at bibili kami mamaya ng ice cream. (Okay, Mommy and I will go to work and will buy ice cream afterwards.)

Then, he simply gets his stool, step on it as he watches us leave while waving and giving his famous flying kiss. It is really sad to look at your kids watching you while leaving for work.

"Moobs" Like Jagger (Part 2)

As I promised in my last post about “moobs”, here are some exercise that will help removing those extra fat in the chest area.

Running or skipping. Do this 3-5 times a week with at least 20-30 minutes each session. This is one of the most effective yet inexpensive exercises you can perform. One of the problem is how are you going to perform this is it is raining outside? Why not shift to skipping rope? So there are no more reasons for excuses that you cannot perform this simple cardio exercise.

Chest Strengthening. Adding this will help your build muscles and increase your metabolism thus, helping burn more fats. If you don’t have much time, you can do this every other day. Some chest strengthening exercises are:

Matt and His New Buddy

Yes, Matt has his new buddy at home – my BIL. He stays at home for now since his work is just near our area.

Every afternoon they go out and have a quick tour around the subdivision. When they returned home Matt tells us where they go and what they do.

“Sakay kami car Tito Jay-ar. Kain kami siomai. Eh, tapos bili ako C2.”

Yes they love eating siomai and Matt eats the same number of siomai as his Tito.

EDSA Traffic Experience

The other day, I saw in the news how heavy the traffic in EDSA was. Even celebrities like Kris Aquino and Manny Pacquiao opted to take MRT just to be on time with their appointments. I told Mommy, Buti na nalang at nung monday tayo nagpunta ng Laguna. Kundi, sigurado hating gabi na tayo makakarating.

"Buti na lang at coding din ako ng tuesday.", I replied.

Be Responsible Drinker, A Chemist Dad's Experience

I just noticed that the age of youth engaged in drinking alcohols is getting younger. I am not against with it but I am just worried that I might experience this with my son. I admit that I started drinking occasionally when I was in late college year.

Though Papa can be considered regular drinker (As in araw-araw nakainom talaga!), he didn't influenced me nor invited me to have a drink with him, that was before. My peers are the ones who had let me taste the first alcohol I ever had.

I am not saying that Papa is not a good example for me but I thanked him for letting me know how to be a responsible drinker in a different way. Parang “reverse psychology” sabi nga.

Why I was not influenced by Papa? Here are the two main reasons that I think will answer this question.

I know how hard it is to be drunk. Not in the sense that I experience it before but I always observed from Papa and other older relatives. Pero minsan talagang nalalasing din ako. Di ba Mommy? I can really say how difficult to be drunk kasi na-experience ko na.

Christmas is in the Air

Lanterns sold on roadside in Sta. Maria, Bulacan
They say that our country celebrates Christmas the longest than any country in the world. As soon as the “ber” months started (September), signs that holiday season is just around the corner can be observed. Here are some signs that I already observed as soon as the “ber” months started.

Cravings for Balot and Penoy

Stall in "Balutan", Sta. Maria, Bulacan
Last Wednesday, I suddenly crave for penoy and balot so I bought in one of known place that sell it. However, it was still raw and needs to be cooked in boiling water with a bit of salt for 30 minutes. This place is even known to be called as “Balutan” rather than the name of the barangay.

Family Day Sunday: Lots of Foods

Last Sunday, after attending the mass with my MIL and SIL, we headed to the market. I separated from them since I need to buy some veggies and fish for our week’s menu while Mommy and others went to tiange to buy clothes. After few hours, we met on a specific place.

Mommy and SIL throw jokes to MIL that she will treat us at KFC for our lunch. She immediately replied “YES” so we proceed to Waltermart (Sta. Maria, Bulacan) since the nearest KFC is in that place. We ordered regular Bucket Meal with additional brownies. We saved almost 80 pesos for using my MIL’s senior citizen ID. Before heading home, we parked at McDonalds to have sundae as our dessert. (Sorry, I did have any photos for the two stop-overs. Gutom na kasi. hehehe)

Lanzones and Rambutan

Mommy: “Kuripot ka kasi kaya ngayon ka lang nakatikim. Hahaha”
It has been months since I saw stalls in the market selling lanzones and rambutan but they are bit expensive (lanzones-160 per kilo and rambutan-80 pesos per kilo).

Finally, yesterday, I was able to buy it in the market. Vendors in karitons sell them at 30 and 60 pesos per kilo of rambutan and lanzones, respectively. I did not think twice in buying, but of course, kailangan muna tikman bago bumili. LOL. The rambutans are bit smaller than the usual while the lanzones are already lagas with a bit dark spots on its peel but both still taste good. Now, my cravings for these two fruits were already satisfied.

By the way, I also got two tumpok of dalandan for only 20 pesos.
