Love Radio’s Tambalang Balahura at Balasubas

Nicole Hyala and Chris Tsuper Source: Love Radio’s Site

Tambalang Balahura at Balasubas, or in other words, “The Brutish Partners”, is a radio program by Love Radio hosted by Nicole Hyala (Emmylou Gaite-Tinana) and Chris Tsuper (Adrian Lagdameo Policena).

Nicole’s name was derived from the word “Kolehiyala” meaning college student while Chris’ came from the Tagalog word “Tsuper”  which means chauffeur or driver.

Their rapport is impressive making their program runs for more than a decade already and consistently on top of every radio program surveys.

I started listening to their radio program since 2006 but stopped for a couple of years and resumes early this year.

I used to listen to their program especially while driving. If not, I plug my headset and listen while at work thru cellphone or via live streaming. Every episode didn’t fail to make me laugh even listening alone.

Some loyal listeners, referred to as “Tambalanista”, asked advice from them which become the topic of each conversation.

Most of their discussions are turned into jokes that others might find offending but in the end, it still gives moral lessons.

Speaking of moral lessons, lately there is a segment in their program entitled “Kwento ng Mahiwagang Burnay” (Burnay is as Ilocano term for a clay jar).

One inspirational story is read daily either fictional or based on true stories. Still, throwing jokes in the middle of the stories is there.

From time to time, I will try to share some of these stories.

Their program runs from Monday to Friday at 8 am -12nn. Just tune your radio at 90.7 FM (Manila) or listen via live streaming at http://loveradio.com.ph/listen-live/.
For more information about the Tambalan, you can check Love Radio’s Site or follow their Facebook Page named Tambalan.

Safest and Deadliest Automobiles

Scarlet (Kia Picanto)

I am driving Kia Picanto provided by our company for more than four years already. One of the privileges of having this is I can used it for our personal travel like going to our hometown. part of our itenirary is to drop by the market and buy some vegetables because is it much cheaper compared to Bulacan price.

Though Scarlet can still accomdate the three of us, there are times that some of our belongings are already placed in the backseast.  The trunk or the compartment is already filled by the boxes of what we bought. Mama told us to buy our own service with spacious interior like a van or a pick-up.

In case we are going to have the new vehicle for family use, price and space is not the only factor that needs to be considered. Safety should be also on top of the list.

The San Diego Personal Injury Attorneys have a list of safest and deadliest automobiles. The list is categoried according to  vehicle type and safety is determined based on the number of reported deaths per million of registration.

Topping the list of DEADLIEST are:

SUV: Chevrolet Suburban 1500 2WD (60 deaths)

Pick-up: Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew 4WD (79 deaths)

Minivans/Wagons:Nissan Cube (66 deaths)

4-Door Cars: Kia Rio (149 deaths)

and SAFEST are as follows:

SUVs: Kia Sorento 2WD,
together with Toyota Hihglander Hybrid 4WD
and Sequoia 4WD (0 recorded death)

Pick-up: Dodge Ram 1500 Quad 4WD (8 deaths)

Minivans/Wagons: Honda Odessey (0 death)

4-Door Cars: Subaru Legacy 4WD (0 death)

For the complete list of safest and deadliest automobiles can be viewed at http://www.sandiegopersonalinjuryattorney.net/deadliest-cars/. Aside from the types listed above, cars categoried to luxury cars and luxury SUVs are also listed.

Maybe, in the future and in God's will, we will have our own vehicle for the whole family and we can bring home more than vegetables. LOL.

Are you planning to buy a new car?

When We Pray...

Browsing the internet earlier, I crossed a short story about what happens in heaven when we are praying.

I dreamt that I went to Heaven and an angel was showing me around. We walked side-by-side inside a large workroom filled with angels. My angel guide stopped in front of the first section and said, " This is the Receiving Section. Here, all petitions to God said in prayer are received."

I looked around in this area, and it was terribly busy with so many angels sorting out petitions written on voluminous paper sheets and scraps from people all over the world.

Will You Choose Cremation?

Nowadays, cremation is becoming popular as a way to decompose dead’s body. One of the main reasons by many is practicality. This saves on the funeral and burial cost as well as land space.

Some individuals request for cremation due to fear that their body will be decomposed when buried.

But do you know how the body is cremated?

First, the corpse is placed in a combustible container then placed on a preheated chamber with a temperature of 760 to 980 degrees Celsius for three to four hours.

Tips In Case of Kid's Lost at the Mall

Source: Flicker

When we visited SM Baliwag two weeks ago and something happened. Matthew got lost on our sight while we are looking for something to buy.

At first we let him run away from us since he used to do this every time we go to the mall. After a few minutes, he will return. But that doesn't happen, he didn’t go back. Mommy and I started to look for him. We go on separate ways to make the search faster. I am afraid that he might go upstairs using the escalator.

How To Calm Active Kids?

Kids at toddler stage are always full of stored energy making them hyperactive.

Matthew is used known to be hyperactive not only at home but in school as well. Sometime, this gave an impression to others of being makulit especially in school.

Lately, he used to bring home "sad face" not one but last week he got 7 which indicates of misbehavior in class. When Mommy asked him what he did in school, he will just say "Nagkulit po kasi ako." See, at an early age, the word makulit is already pinned in his mind and uses this as reason why his teacher gave him "sad face".

Being hyperactive, there are times I am thinking that he might have an ADHD or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. As I research about this I conclude that he doesn't have it. He even possess the opposites of all the symptoms like disorganized, distracted, and forgetful. He doesn’t have any problem in doing his homework.

Room Ideas for Boys

This cabinet is actually older than the user. Mommy and I purchased this cabinet in 2008 after we got married. Damages like falling doors and worn out handles are just some of the evidences telling how old it is and needs replacement. I already tried fixing the doors by placing hinges but after several months, sira na naman.

Throwback Thursday: A "Tough" High School Life

One of the toughest years in my high school life is our senior year. Why? Aside from the fact that we must do our best in our remaining months, subjects are quite difficult. Our school is under science curriculum which is very different from other schools. Some of our subjects are already advance and only took by college students. Earth Science, Advance Trigonometry with Calculus, Advance Physics, and Statistics are just few advanced subjects.

We are also required to have a group thesis and feasibility study for our Research and Integrated Technology subjects, respectively. If we failed in these two requirements, we will not have our diploma.

Driving Moments: Tongue Twister

There are some Tagalog words that are quite difficult to pronounce and some are considered and used in tongue twister games.

Last week, I am following a tricycle with some tongue twisting Tagalog words written at the back.

The first word is "WUMAWAGAYWAY".

Tagalog tongue twister words

Try to say the three words as many times as you can in a minute. How many times you pronounced it correctly?

What other tongue-twister Tagalog words do you know?

Familoop Safeguard on Monitoring Kid's Online Activities

At the age of 5, my son can actually navigate his Mom’s tablet without any hassle. He can also go online and watch YouTube on Smart TV. Just like the other day, he was trying to download one of the apps that I just deleted. As early as now, I am worried that few years more, he can already browse the internet and might encounter some sites that are not suitable for his age.

Internet is a great resource for our kids. With just one click, they can get the answers to their assignments. They can read encyclopedia and other books online. There are also online tutorials and classes available nowadays.

Though is it considered a big help in mental development, dangers are still behind this powerful technology. Cyberbullying and porn sites are just two of the hazards that a kid may encounter as they click the mouse.

One dilemma of parents about internet is on how to protect the kids against the risk of the internet. For a parent that works full-time, like me, sitting beside them while doing their research and working in front of the computer or other gadgets is not the best way to take in control. What if you are not around?

Another way to protect them from the possible online harm is to have protection tools. Familoop Safeguard is one of these that a smart parent may consider.

How does it work?
Familoop-parental control is a software that will give a snapshot of kids’ activities, friends, interests, and intents. It has a capacity to identify online threats like chatting with strangers and cyberbullying. Blocking unsafe contents and search results, social networking controls, child locator, communication control, game and apps management, and actionable insights are just some of the features of this tool.
