It was 1994 when the animated The Lion King movie was released. After twenty-five years, Disney made a remake of the movie, but this time, in real-life action.
Since we made a promise to our little boy, we watched the film last Sunday.
I must admit, I was excited since I wanted to see if there are changes from the original story.
As the movie goes, I carefully reminisce the scenes and the story. Nothing has changed. Even the soundtracks are still the same – Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Hakuna Matata, Circle of Life and others.

Here is a summary of the story:
Simba admires his father, King Mufasa, the leader of the Pride Lands of Africa. He wanted to be like his father when he grows up and become the king. But behind all the excitement, there is one that is not happy with the arrival of Simba. Scar, Mufasa's brother, who happens to be the former heir to the throne, is doing plans to take the lead.
Scar made connivance with the hyenas to kill Mufasa and put all the blame to Simba. He forced Simba to leave the Pride Land and never return.
Simba collapses in the dessert where Timon (meerkat) and Pumba (warthog) saved him. Simba grew up in the jungle with his friends.
One day, Simba saved his two friends from a hungry lioness, Nala, Simba’s childhood friend.
Nala, escaped from the Pride Land to seek help to save their home. She encouraged Simba to return and take back the throne.
Simba refuses but he was urged by Rafiki. He told Simba that his father’s spirit lives in him. Without a second thought, he runs and returns to Pride Land.
With the help of Simba's friend, he reached the Pride Rock and confronts Scar and saved his mother, Sarabi, from Scar’s attack.
During the fight, Scar, reveals that he saw the same scenario at the edge of the rock where he killed Mufasa. Scar tried to defend himself and blame the hyenas in Mufasa’s death.
With the help of Timon, Pumba, Rafiki, Zazu, Nala and the rest of the lioness, they managed to out thrown the hyenas.
Scar was cornered by Simba. He tries to beg and ask what he can do to forgive him. Simba ordered him to leave the Pride Land and never return.
Scar tries to attack Simba but he was thrown from the top of the rock. He survived but was attacked and killed by hyenas.
Simba became the king and made Nala his queen.
Later in the Pride Rock, Rafiki presented Simba and Nala’s cub to the other animals in the Pride Land.
After watching the movie, our little boy keeps on singing Hakuna Matata. He cannot forget the funny duo of Timon and Pumba.
Have you watched The Lion King too?
