Carnival at CLSU 2019

During our Holy Week stay in our hometown it was also our Alma Mater's founding anniversary celebration. One of the features during the event is the carnival they placed in the sports ground.

Matthew was already in Nueva Ecija right after their school spending his vacation. He keeps on telling us that there is a perya and frequently asks Mama and Papa to visit the place.

One evening, they went there and this brave boy chooses to ride the horror train. According to him, Mama and Papa did not want to accompany him so he went alone. Good that there are students na isinama siya sa grupo.

He is learning to be independent already.

We were still able to visit the place but since it was Holy Week, konti lang ang tao.

I just took photos of the different attractions like the color ball.

Here you are going to place a bet on the color of your choice before releasing the ball. When the ball stops on the same color you picked, you won.

Another one, I don't know how it was called, but all you need to do is toss a 1 peso coin in the board. If the coin centers the square, you won.

Aside from the games, there are also rides like the horror train, Vikings and this swing ride similar to the Flying Fiesta in Enchanted Kingdom. Unfortunately, these rides are not available when we visited. Kung open lang, I will definitely try the Flying Fiesta.

I remember the last time perya or carnival was placed inside our school was way back on my elementary days. Where I got the fear of riding the Ferris wheel.

Before I go, please forgive me for this late post.

Lead Auditor Course (Quality Management System)

Last November 2018, I finally pursue my plan to take the Lead Auditor Course. This is a 5-day course which will determine if you can be certified auditor for Quality Management System or the ISO 9001. Sounds too technical?

ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Course, ISO 9001, Lead Auditor Course, Quality Management System, ISO 9001:2015

A quality management system (QMS) is a collection of business processes focused on consistently meeting customer requirements and enhancing their satisfaction. It is aligned with an organization's purpose and strategic direction (ISO9001:2015) (Wikipedia)

Having the QMS certification for a company gives the impression that they have a system followed to meet the requirements of the customer as well as its satisfaction.

To continue, the course is composed of 4 days classroom lecture and 1 day or should I say 2 hours exam. The exam will determine if you can be an auditor or not.

First day, palang struggle na. Instead of having the car, I took the bus and MRT. See how I survive the MRT for 5 days.

MRT, north avenue station, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Course, ISO 9001, Lead Auditor Course, Quality Management System, ISO 9001:2015

I was 15 minutes late and I was already assigned to a group. The classroom session has a lecture, seat works, role playing, and individual works. We were graded or assessed for all of these as part of the evaluation. The lecture went well until the 4th day.

We were given the idea of how we should perform in the exam in order to pass and get the certification. After knowing the conditions, hindi na maipinta ang mga mukha namin. All of us were nervous and thinking of different strategies to pass the exam.

On the fifth day, we took the 2-hour exam. After the exam, most of us were discussing our answers and all of us have different opinions and point of views. We were advised not to talk about it and enjoy the rest of the day.

Although, the 5-day course were stressful, physically and mentally, the foods were great especially the desserts.

After two months, I got an email that I passed the exam and now a certified auditor. The release of results took that long since all of our progress during the course were sent to SOCOTEC Certification-Japan for further evaluation. The certificates came from Japan too.

What’s next? I am planning to apply as a part-time auditor with the same company that gave the course.

How to Make an Auto Loan

Just like Mommy shared in her blog, we already have our dream family vehicle and it only took three days for us to process the application. How?

First, before going to the bank, you must already have known the vehicle you want. The model including the brand and make, the branch or dealer, and the price of course.

You can search for the model you including the freebies and cash discount offers. Freebies may include accessories like carpet and seat covers.

The cash discount can be used to lessen the principal amount of your loan thus, reducing your monthly amortization.

Also, I was offered with a voucher for three consecutive preventive maintenance for a reasonable price. This covers change oil including oil filter.

As of now, I already consumed the two vouchers. The last voucher includes the checking of brakes and tires which may use tire changer in checking like the one in Best Buy Auto Equipment.

To continue, I filed the application in BDO Unibank since we already have our account there. This will make a less hassle in making transactions for the monthly payment. Just opt for the automatic debit from your account.

Not only that, having the loan where you had your bank account makes it easier to get the approval.

Second, prepare the needed documents. Completely filled application form, identification documents like, for employed, you need to ask your employer a Certificate of Employment (COE) stating your current salary and other compensation.

I was not required to submit COE since I have an account in BDO but I was advised to keep it ready in case asked.

Finally, you need to submit the documents to the bank for it to be processed. I was notified to expect a call from the bank for customer information verification. I received the call the same day I completed the application.

After three days, I received a phone call from the bank that my application has been approved and asked to visit them and to sign the contract and settle for the payments needed.

To know more on how to check BDO’s website and they are offering a free gas if you apply online from May 01 to June 30, 2019.

Urban Gardening: How to Grow Lettuce from Stalk

It has been two weeks since I started doing another home project - Urban Gardening.

I started planting lettuce, tomatoes, and pepper in a plastic hanging pots. here it is now:

Aside from growing veggies from seeds, I tried making recycling veggies by letting it grow from the stalk.

How I do that?

I used Romaine Lettuce we bought in the market. I just make sure that the main stalk is still good for roots or make it grow again.

After removing the leaves, the stalk is placed in water for two to three days. Sorry, I forgot to take photos.

You will observe that a new leaf is emerging from the center.

The plant is then transferred to the soil and let it grow. After two days, here it is:

I am hoping that this will continue to grow and soon to be harvested.

By the way, I also tried germinating some seeds in a recycled pail. Here, instead of throwing the seeds into the rubbish, I tried to make it grow again. Look at this one, if not mistaken, this is a cucumber. It is now ready to transfer to a bigger pot.

How about you, do you practice urban gardening too?
