Preparing Your Kids to School

On my previous post, I mentioned that we are already searching for a school for our little Matt. However, one school we visited gave us an idea which we decided not to send Matt to school yet but mommy will put him in a home schooling sessions instead. You can check updates on her blog, Momaye's Diary. Also, my sister will give us module for nursery.

Speaking of school, in less than a month, the classes will formally start. Like me, I know that some parents are excited but a bit nervous in sending their kids to schools for the first time. Here are some tips that might help in preparing your kids to school especially in the preschool level.

Talk to them. Talking to your kids on going to school will be a big help in preparing them into their big step. Talk about his schedules, whose the one to bring and fetch them, how they feel – excited or nervous. If they feel nervous, just give them the positive side of being in school like playing and having new friends. Also, reading a story about first time in school can help.

The "DAMS" of Buying Toys

Photo Source: Feminist at the Sea
Toys are one of the things that our kids will surely love. These are also the things that will definitely catch their attention when they are with us either in malls or in tiangge.  However, as parent, we must choose the best toys for them like how we choose our personal things.

There are many guides in buying toys for me just remember the word “D-A-M-S”.

Durable?
You must check for the toys if they are durable especially when you are buying at tiangge. (Oops! I am not against buying toys in tiangge.) Check for the buttons and other parts that may break or snapped during playtime. Choosing the sturdy ones does not only give safety but it could possibly pass to their siblings.

Weekend Reflections: A True Friend

I got this thought from a Thai Movie entitled “My True Friend”.
I definitely agree with this one. A loving friend does not only say what is good about you but more often, they will tell you the reality. They guide you in case you are already walking in a wrong path and bring you back to the right one. They will never hesitate or think twice even it will lead to misunderstandings as long as it will be good for you.
Have you already met your loving friend?
Enjoy the rest of the week!

RumCola

I saw a billboard about this drink and when I saw it in the grocery, I immediately grab one to try since the original Tanduay Ice is really good.  This one taste like a combination of rum and cola, just what the name implies. I was a bit disappointed since I assume that it will be as smooth as Tanduay Ice. Maybe, I was not used with the taste of rum.

Preschool Checklist

We are planning of sending Matt to preschool this coming school year, nursery or play-class perhaps. Aside from the consideration if kid is ready for school or not, just like what Mommy posted, we are also searching for the right school where he will attend.

There are some factors that need to be considered when choosing the right school. Here are some that needs to be checked when searching for school:

School
How old is the school?
What are the track records? Where do graduates go?
Where it is located?
How much is the tuition fee per school year? Is there any payment schemes?
What is the medium of instruction?
How big are the classes? What is the teacher-to-student ratio?

Captured Moments: Chef in the Making

I am preparing Pizza Rolls as our Sunday afternoon snack when Matt approaches me.  I thought he will just ask some cheese but he wants to sit on my lap while preparing. Afterwards, he wants to get the knife do the same as I did.

Will he be a chef too? What do you think?

Warning: Don’t let your kids work in the kitchen with sharp objects. Guide them to avoid accidents.

This product also helps in reduction of eye cataract, teridium (with the help of healing oil) and other eye illnesses. Dr. Edinell Calvario uses this product for more than 10 years. And this is her secret of having a 20-20 vision considering her age.

Factors Affecting Childhood Obesity

childhood obesity, obesity, Parenting, parenting tips, tips on parenting,
Photo source: Sarah Espanol – Com 466

Obesity is often referred to person with too much excess fat in the body. Before, we used to see these cases in adults but now, even our kids might be a candidate for obesity which we don’t want to happen to our kids.

Here are some factors that can lead to childhood obesity.

1. Oldies, like our grandparents, believe that the bigger the kids are, the healthier they are which is considered as a big myth. Overfed kids will develop a large stomach which needs more food to satisfy their hunger.  We know that kids will eat as long as they see foods in front of them. Being big is not always being healthy, remember, obesity is a sign of malnutrition too.

2. Choice of foods is also another factor that triggers childhood obesity. Kids at ages 3 and above usually love to eat sweets as well as high carb foods like chocolates and pasta. Try to make healthy options that are appetizing to your kids.

3. In our time today that we considered technology is having a great influence on kids, this is another factor that can lead to obesity. Kids nowadays have inadequate physical activities. They spend more time in from of TV watching their favorite shows or in from of computer playing their favorite games. Games that require physical activities like running, biking and walking is always became a second choice. Parents like me, take note of this, physical activities are not only for our kid’s benefit but for us too. It does not only improves your physique but it will give quality time to your family too.

As parent we must prevent our kids into this situation before it will lead to some problems. Obese kids are “cute” to look at but in fact it may lower their self-esteem later because of some bullying outside our home. Furthermore, more serious problem is that  obesity could lead to hypertension and allergies.
