Captured Moments: Snow?

These are not snow, but flowers of talahib or Kans Grass. This area is along the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx) just near the Mabalacat Entry.

During this season, talahib starts to bear these white flowers that almost cover the entire field where they grow which looks like snow from afar.

There are lot areas along the SCTEx that can be seen with the same view.

How's My Driving?

I noticed this phrase in most buses and delivery trucks or vehicles. They are asking how you think they drive. Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) contact numbers are also given where they can send their reports. In spite of this, there are still lot of reckless drivers around especially those handling metro buses. One of them is the SANTRANS that travels from San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan to Sta. Cruz, Manila. Some other were those mini-bus that travels from Bulacan to Divisoria.

I admire the LTFRB for having this campaign but there are some questions running in my mind about this.

Do you think this is effective? Are those drivers aware that there are some concerned citizens that will report on how they drive? Do LTFRB receive complaints in their hotlines? Are there drivers and operators being investigated about these reckless driving reports?

Matt: Mickey Mouse Fanatic

Asking Matt who is his favorite character, he will definitely answer Mickey Mouse. Want proofs?

He will ask you to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse either TV, computer or tablet.
He’s favorite sleeping buddy.
One time, he woke up in the middle of the night and cried.
I asked him why he was crying, he just said, “Mickey, asan?”
Upon having Mickey, he returned back to his sleep.
I though he just wants to have some milk.

On his 2nd birthday, we did a Mickey-inspired mini-party.
From invitation, souvenir as well as his cake.
Good that there are character-cakes from Goldilocks.
Of course, I made him crocheted Mickey Mouse hat
which he loves to wear during his early morning walk
around the village with Tita.
 Didn’t he like Mickey Mouse?

Arrozcaldo + Tokwa

This has been one of the best among food pairs I love especially during cold wheather. To be a bit healthier, I put some dried malunggay leaves in the arrozcaldo. Next time, I’ll try to add a stalk of tanglad (lemon grass) or pandan leaves.

I tried to imitate the tofu by Chowking including the sauce and seems to be successful.

Lucky

I really love this song...and I am really lucky I'm inlove with my bestfriend...Love you Mommy...
Happy 110th Monthsary. Mwaaaah...

Courtesy of Youtube

Do you hear me?
I'm talking to you
Across the water across the deep blue ocean

Under the open sky, oh my,
baby I'm trying

Boy I hear you in my dreams
I feel your whisper across the sea
I keep you with me in my heart
You make it easier when life gets hard

I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
Ooh ooh ooh

They don't know how long it takes
Waiting for a love like this
Every time we say goodbye
I wish we had one more kiss
I'll wait for you I promise you, I will

I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
Lucky we're in love in every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed
Lucky to be coming home someday

And so I'm sailing through the sea
To an island where we'll meet
You'll hear the music fill the air
I'll put a flower in your hair

Though the breezes through the trees
Move so pretty you're all I see
As the world keeps spinning 'round
You hold me right here, right now

I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again

I'm lucky we're in love in every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed
Lucky to be coming home someday Ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh, ooh

Creepy Crawlers - Inside the Jar - Day 12

Day 11? I haven’t took a pic at this stage since the chrysalis looks the same other than the color becomes darker.

This morning, I was surprised that I got so view some black spots and it turned brown in color. I decided to bring it at work so I can document how it came out and turn to be a butterfly.

After having our breakfast, I peek on it again to figure how I am going to bring it but to my surprise, I noticed that there is something coming out so I immediately took the cam and take a picture of it. I feel lucky this time.

I got a chance to take short video clip of it but it was blurry.

The Puzzle Solver

The Puzzle Solver

One that I admire with Matt is that once you gave him task, he will never run into it until finished.

Just like this one, after giving the jigsaw puzzle, he just sits in the corner trying to solve it. He will carefully place each piece of puzzle. When he cannot solve it anymore, he will just approach anyone to help him. Once done, he will pull them out again and solve it by his own.

Another thing I noticed is his sense of responsibility. After playing his toys, he will not just leave until everything has been returned into its proper places.

I just hope that this attitude will be carried until he grew up.

Creepy Crawlers: Inside the Jar - Day 10

At last! The long wait is over. After ten (10) days, the one came out of its chrysalis as beautiful butterfly. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to document how it came out since I was upstairs sleeping. We were just surprised when Tita (Matt’s yaya) told us that there is already butterfly in the jar. She even witnessed how the butterfly slowly coming out of the cocoon. There is still one more, hopefully this time I can capture it.

I feel fulfilled upon seeing the butterfly coming out of the jar and fly away which makes me think to collect more caterpillars and wait for them to turn into colorful winged insects.

I am done with another project. The Mickey Mouse hat for girls and a pink beanie hat (needs some ribbon accent). This is just one of the orders from Momaye’s Shoppe.

We did agree that I will do the crocheting while she will do the sewing, posting and selling. What a nice agreement right?

Giveaway: Jewelry Candles

This giveaway is hosted by Elitemama, who does the review too.

Jewelry Candles
Jewelry Candles was inspired by the famous classic movie, Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. A great classic movie that everyone has pretty much seen. The people at the company love the movie and thought that it would be awesome to do their own Willie Wonka type concept. Instead of having golden tickets inside of a chocolate bar, you will find jewelry in these all natural soy candles. With Jewelry Candles, everyone is a winner =) Inside of all the candles there is a hidden jewel that can be worth anywhere from $10 to $7,500. In the candle you could find a ring, necklace, pendant, bracelet, anklet, or even a pair of earrings. You never know what you will find in your candle, but it will always be a fabulous piece of jewelry.

Jewelry Candles are made with 100% natural soy and premium quality fragrances making these candles smell amazing. There are LOTS of scents to choose from. The candles are huge! They are 21 oz and have a burn time anywhere from 110 hours to 150 hours so you get a lot of bang and fragrance for your buck. Each candle is hand poured with love from Louisville, Kentucky.
Review:
I was excited to have the opportunity to review one of the lovely Candles from Jewelry Candles. Not only was I excited, I was was practically jumping up and down like a kid in a candy store, lol. My kids even looked at me funny as well. So, I got to choose a candle and I chose the Pink Love candle. Now before I go on about the candle, I want to let all of you know about the shipping. The shipping was excellent. The candle arrived extremely fast, I mean in like less than 2 days fast. And the best part was the packaging. When it came to the packaging, that candle was sealed and protected. I mean it was covered in so much bubble wrap, the candle could have made it though a battle, lol. It was great. That right there shows that Jewelry Candles takes care of there products and wants their customers to be completely satisfied.
Here is the lovely candle:

Originally the label on the candle was covering the area where the jewelry "marker" is, but I moved it so you can get a visual of where to expect your jewelry when you get your candle. It doesn't always end up in the same place as mine happened to be. It could be a bit higher.

The candle has to wicks so it gives you a nice even burn. No need to worry about the candles tunneling through one side leaving the other side waxy, lol. The smell of the candle when it is burning is so relaxing and calm. I love it and there is no harsh or pungent odor either when it is being burned.

And now, for the best part. Are you ready? Lookie =)

As you can see in one part of the photo the foil is peaking through the wax. That is when you are ready to open your prize. I got this lovely heart shaped ring. It fits perfect with the candles. And I'm letting you know this ahead of time, the jewelry is top knotch. I have a scensitivity to jewelry causing me to break out, but with the ring that I got in my candle, I had no issues at all. I even wore the ring for three days straight to see if I would have a reaction and nothing. So you know right then and there that Jewelry Candles uses high quality jewelry in their candles along with a high quality candle =) Once you have tried Jewelry Candles, you will be hooked. Check out my youtube video to learn more.

Now it is time for you to have this lovely candles too.

What to win?

Family Day Sundays: Rides and Selecta Ice Cream

September 16, 2012

I had stopped posting our family day Sundays for almost three weeks due to busy workloads. Good that I am here again sharing my family days.

I remember that it was my grandfather’s birthday. We went to SM Marilao to attend the mass and also pay our water bill. Unfortunately, we didn’t catched up the mass so we decided to proceed to Divine Mercy Shrine.

I love Sinigang!

Sinigang na Ulo ng Maya-maya sa Miso

I love soupy dishes. One of them is the sinigang na ulo ng  maya-maya sa miso.

I haven’t cooked this one but Mommy did. She adds a stalk of tanglad (lemon grass) not only to add flavor but to lessen the fishy taste. Which is really effective. We had one pot of tanglad at home but I think I need to plant some more.

We are lucky that we are near market that sells such fish at very low price. I bought about a kilo for only 30 pesos.

Congratulations to the New Set of Chemists

After two days, the Professional Regulation Commission - Board of Chemistry has already released the result of the 2012 Chemists Board Exam held on September 18-19, 2012. There are 292 out of 642 examinees that successfully make it.

Our Alma Mater was aiming to get a passing mark higher than the national passing mark since the school community is already looking down on us because among all the courses that have board exam, it is the only one that has not surpassed the national passing mark. This year, they only got 42.86% which is few points below the national passing mark of 45.48%. In spite of what the result is, CONGRATULATIONS to all who passed and for those who didn’t make, GOOD LUCK this might not be your year.

For the complete list of passers including those who topped and school performance, click HERE.

Selecta Ice Cream on Sale

Last Saturday, Mommy and I went to Waltermart, Sta. Maria to buy some groceries. I was craving for ice cream that time and find Selecta Ice freezer. Since Waltermart is having their payday sale, which includes the ice cream, I convinced Mommy to buy one. There are three flavors that were on sale - Coffee Crumble, Coffee Almond Cookie and Buko Salad. Unfortunately the last one is out of stock so I picked the Coffee Almond Cookie.

At 86.00 pesos, we saved approximately 45 pesos.

I love the coffee flavor as well as the roasted almonds and dark chocolate cookies. Like his father, Matt really loves eating the ice cream as our afternoon snack last weekend.

Creepy Crawlers: Inside the Jar - Day 5 and 6

I was right on my previous post that in the afternoon the other one will turn into its pupa stage. Here they are now, silently doing something inside their chrysalis.

I guess it will be fun to make a guess what will be the color of the butterflies when they came out. My guess is yellow.

New Office

There are only two of us in our department, my inspector and I. We were used to have our office in the Central Laboratory located in the same vicinity but it seems to be congested already (peace Mommy, LOL).

When I saw a vacant room that can be used as our new office, I requested the management if we can utilize it instead of just making it storage room for some unused stuffs. I was lucky since they granted my request and after few months of some repair, we finally moved to our new place.

The Door

Sample retention rack
(We are at the Quality Assurance,
we need to retain feeds and raw material samples)

The White Board
(we palced announcements, memos and some food for thought)

Our Tables

Production Site
(from our office, we can see the finished product packaging section
which is an advantage for us)

We are currently starting the 5S implementation in our workplace so I need to make my drawers organized too.

We really need to make our new office neat and organized since they are looking at us as an example because of the nature of our work - quality assurance.

Happy Birthday Tatay

I am sorry for what I did during your last days of stay with us. I know I made mistake which makes you sad and I am really feel sorry for that.

Again, Happy Birthday Tatay.

This is one of my favorite photo with Tatay. Can you find me?

Feeds

I've been working in thins manufacturing industry since 2003. I just want to share some inputs about  it.

At first, I thought that feeds are the same as “darak” only to find out that “darak” or rice bran is just one of the “filler” ingredient in feeds, meaning this is not the major component of feeds. Sometimes, feeds are produced even without it. There are major group of feed ingredients according to their function. These are vegetable protein source, animal protein source, energy sources and fillers. Not to forget the vitamins, minerals and some medications. The percentage of inclusion was formulated by the animal nutritionists.

The feeds are produced by dosing, grinding into set particle size and mixing using the specified time. After mixing, it will undergo further process depending on the form of feeds that needed; mash, pellet or crumble. Mashed feeds do not undergo further process after mixing. Pellet-formed feeds continue to the process of pelleting where the mashed feeds pass conditioner (cooking thru addition of steam) before passing to pelletizer to produce the pelleted feeds. It will then undergo cooling process to lower the temperature from 70ºC or more to ambient temperature before bagging. Crumble-form feeds, on the other hand, will need to pass the crumbler to crack the pelleted feeds before bagging.
Mash-Formed Feeds
Crumble-Formed Feeds
Pellet-Formed Feeds

Before the feeds are being released to the customers, it will undergo series of physical tests as part of our quality checking.

Here is a short video made by one of our colleagues in our Tarlac plant. This is shown during the awarding ceremony of our ISO Certification.

Creepy Crawlers: Inside the Jar - Day 4

Creepy Crawlers: Inside the Jar - Day 3

Still in the pupa stage while the other one still keeps on eating but seems to move slower compared yesterday. Perhaps, it will also start to locate itself and will turn into to its cocoon. According my colleague (a biology graduate) it will take about two weeks until it will completely transform into a butterfly.

I am so excited and hopefully I can capture it while the butterfly comes out of its cocoon.

Creepy Crawlers: Inside the Jar - Day 2

The larger one seems to positioned itself already and will start the stage – pupa. It seems to be idle too. The other one is still active on eating leaves (no pictures for this one because I did not got a clear shot of it).

At night, I was surprised that the larger one has already wrapped itself and turned into a cocoon while the other had grown much compared to its size in early morning.
