Recently, I included one of the topics to be posted here regularly, is the “Driving Moments”. The main objective of this is to share photos of unusual or common scenes I observed while in traffic jams.  Another reason for doing this is to reduce my boredom while being trapped in a traffic.

RA 7653: Demonetizing Old Peso Bills

Earlier, I went to the bank and saw a poster on one of their walls that the old Peso Bills or the New Design Series (NDS) can be used by the public for transactions until December 31 of this year only.

Starting January 01, 2016, the New Generation Currency (NGC) will be the only bills that will be accepted in any financial transaction requiring cash.

If you still have NDS bills by 2016, you don’t need to worry because banking institutions including the Banko Central ng Pilipinas or BSP will have it changed for NGC without extra charges. However, exchanging NDS to NGC will run until December 31, 2016 only. Beyond this date, all NDS will no longer have any monetary values and will be considered demonetized.

Driving Moments: Jeepney Quotes

Jeepneys are designed to be unique, from colors to its accessories. Another fun to look at jeepneys is the quotations hanging on the rear side. Some place funny lines, others put bible verses while some place inspirational lines.

Here is a funny quote I captured while sitting on the driver seat.

Trying Military Diet: 2nd Round

One of my goals this year is to loose extra pounds. We tried achieving this goal by adding physical activities like running and dance workouts. Unfortunately, this doesn't work that much. Blame it to laziness! Hahaha. We also tried the Military Diet wherein you are going to limit your calorie intake to for three consecutive days. The remaining days will allow you to eat what you want.

The last time we had this tactic, we shed off about 8 pounds for two consecutive weeks. Not bad at all, right?

Mommy and I agreed to make another try on Military Diet next week. This time, we will be strict in following the recommended daily calorie intake. We will also watch what our diets for the remaining 4 days instead of eating all want you want.

Here is the menu for our Military Diet for two weeks.

Day 1

Breakfast: 1 slice toast, 2 tbsp peanut butter, half-piece grapefruit, a cup of green tea
Lunch:  1/2 cup tuna flakes, 1 slice toast

No more plastic bags in Science City of Muñoz

Plastics composed a huge part in garbage collected in every town and city. Though there are movements and organizations that encourage recycling and reuse of plastics, still, majority ended into trash.

Another way to prevent the continuous accumulation of plastics in landfills is by having ordinance like "No-Plastic Policy". Years ago, I mentioned that Bulacan has already an ordinance that prohibits the use ofplastics. However, I think this is not fully implemented and followed. Sta. Maria, in particular, plastics are still the major packaging material used in the market.

Last weekend, we visited our home town. One of our routine is to drop by the market and buy some veggies to be brought back home. To our surprised, all of our purchases were placed in labo plastics. We requested for sando bag so we can easily carry what we bought. The vendor declined our request and told us that use of sando bag is already prohibited.

June 2015: A Recap

Wow! Time flies so fast. The first half of 2015 is already finished. I was supposed to make a recap of the first half of the year but due to heavy loads and side-by-side deadlines at work, I ended up with the past month’s recap only.

Blog Redesigned
Have you noticed few changes in my blog? Thanks to Mommy for doing these free of charge. XOXO

School Opening
June is, of course, the start another school year. Now that Matthew is in Kinder 2, classes starts at 7 am. Waking him up this early is never a problem to us. He use to get up from bed as soon as we go downstairs kahit hindi pa sya nag-aaral.

As practical parents, aside from school supplies, black shoes and one for PE class are the only things we bought for him. Bag and uniform is the same since these are still in good condition.

It's Rainy Season Again!

Over the weekend, rain pours continuously. This could be the probable reason why the weather bureau announced the the rainy season is officially here.

This is also the season that cough and colds are common sickness by many. And when it comes to worsts, flu. This is not a serious problem if you have a strong immune system or you need to boost it by taking multivitamins like ascorbic acid or Vitamin C.

Aside from these, having proper clothes to protect from the weather is a necessity. Whether rain or shine, these should be in your car or bags.

Umbrella is definitely on top of the list. There are different types umbrella depending on its length. A foldable is mostly recommended since it can be placed inside the bag. However, be sure to pick a sturdy design. Based on my experience a 2-fold with round wires or frames is better.
