Keeping My Tools Organized

One of the things dads should have, I assume, at home is the DIY tools. This will help in reducing the expenses in simple home repair works.

Previously, my tools like saw, screwdrivers, drill set and much more are placed in the cabinet under the kitchen sink. Along with the home beautification projects, 2016 is to organize my tools too.

After partially done with repainting, I realized that there is a small space under the stairs that I can convert into a storage for my DIY tools.

Instead of placing the screwdrivers in a tool box, I drilled hooks on the wall to hold it.

Also, the saws are now hanging on the wall making it easier to locate and much safer.

There are also some disposable containers from the kitchen that supposed to be placed in the trashcan is used to segregate and as storage for loose screws, nails, and tox. All I need to do is to have it labeled for easy identification.

Listening to music like acoustics played with ydb helps me motivate in doing such home projects.

By the way, my next project is container racks for condiments and wine made of wood scraps (like the one below) which I will share once finished.

Home Beautification Project 2016 Update

Currently, we are doing home renovation or should I say beautification. Instead of hiring someone to do the task, yours truly made it, but of course with the help of Mommy.

The project is not as fast as expected since I can only do this after work and during weekends.

To give you some updates, I am already done repainting the kitchen and I have to add some shelves for the condiments.

Kitchen is almost done here
Since kitchen is one of my favorite spots at home, I am looking for the best anti-fatigue mat that will help lessen the stress caused by several hours of standing preparing for the week's menu.

On our living room, I finally made this simple wall where to place the TV.

The TV set is already in place and the Christmas Tree is already up but curtains, carpet and cover for the sofa is not yet finalized.

Our Living Room, not yet finished
I am also looking for a nice speaker to complete the home entertainment experience at its best. I want to have a unit that gives the best sound like how a shure beta 91 captures the beat of the drums.

There are still lots of tasks to be done and hopefully, I can finish these before the year ends. Later, I will be doing the repainting of the remaining walls as well as the stairs.

That's all for now and I will keep you updated on our Home Beautification Project 2016.

Tips on How to Improve Your Home on a Budget

On my previous post, I shared some ideas to consider in home renovation. Home renovation needs huge amount of pennies. But what if you are on a budget? Here are another tips in home renovation.

Limited financially this year? Want to improve your home? No worries. With a few simple tips, DIY projects, and the right attitude and time allocated aside, you can truly improve the look and resale value of the home, even if you do not have too much put away to spend. These are a few simple ways to go about improving your home's appearance, even if you don't have much to spend in the process of doing so.

Refresh it
You'll be surprised at what a coat of paint can do to any room. Many people think new furniture or pricey flooring is the only solution. Painting a room is far cheaper, and you can choose from hundreds of colour combinations, which will truly add a pop to any room. But on the other hand sometimes you can pick up furniture to refresh your home for cheap. When looking for new furniture you should always look online and in your local stores to see if there are any deals on the items you are looking for. Sometimes it is better to make a little investment instead of spending time refurbishing items you already have. There are multiple catalogue comparison sites which can help you find the perfect deal. One example of a site is latesthome.co.uk.

DIY it
Yes, doing it yourself is a great way to save money. Need new cabinets? Consider refinishing old ones in the home. There are dozens of little projects you can hire a professional to do, which will end up costing you two or three times as much than if you were to take the time to DIY these projects.

Crown moulding
Yes, crown moulding adds great resale value to any room. But, hiring a professional is costly; and, doing it yourself can be extremely tedious and time consuming. But, products like trimroc moulding simply require you to slide a few pieces into place, and fit the foam coated plaster into place. It looks great, and takes virtually no time or effort to complete.

Carpet runners, a small staircase, or even utilizing cubby holes or hidden spaces for storage, are all simple (affordable) solutions to improving your home's appearance. And, the beauty of these projects is how simple they are to complete, and how affordable they are for any homeowner to tackle.
