On Recycling and Urban Gardening

One day Matthew asked me what does ‘recycle” means. For a 6-year old boy, it seems difficult to explain how it literally means.

Then I answered: “Yung gagamitin mo ulit ung isang bagay sa iba.”  I also explained that thru recycling, we can reduce the amount of waste we put into our garbage. We can also make our home decluttered. Instead of just keeping things in the storage area, we can use it for another purpose.

To make a more explanation, I asked him to join me and show what recycle means.

In this picture, I used plastic containers as plant pot by removing the top portion of the container.

In the next photo, I also used plastic containers, filled it with soil and randomly put holes in “body”. We used kamote taps as recycled material too. Instead of putting everything into the trash bin, we inserted it into the holes of the container.

After a week, here how it looks like:

Aside from teaching kids the meaning of recycling, our activity helps Matthew into the idea of Urban Gardening. We don’t have that much area in our home to plant such veggies. This method is also applicable to areas where there is only limited space for gardening.

Also, giving kids a responsibility can be taught thru these. I asked Matthew to take good care of these plants because he is the one who owns it. He needs to water the plants regularly.

Summer is officially here. I am planning to make another DIY plant box in front of our house. I am still looking for some design and ideas like the one I got from  InvitationHomes.com. I am planning to have this finished before the rainy days.

By having this plant box, we can have a better management and maintenance on the ornaments we had at home.

What are your recycling and urban gardening ideas?

Sense 8 a Netflix Series

Just like what I have said before, I used to watch foreign TV series rather than Pinoy Telenovela. For now, I just want to share another series that caught my attention. It was entitled Sense 8, a Netflix Original series.

Source

This series is about eight strangers with different cultures from different part of the world known to be “Sensates”

The sensates suddenly experience a vision of a woman named Angelica who had a violent death by killing herself with a gun. The cluster of sensates are Capheus, Sun, Nomi, Kala, Riley, Wolfgang, Lito and Will.

Each of them has the ability of mental and emotional connections which enables them to communicate with each other including their skills, knowledge, and language.

Capheus or also known as “Van Damme” is a matatu driver from Nairobi. He was called as Van Damme because he is a big fan of the Jean-Claude Van Damme. He wants to earn more money to help his mother buy AIDS medicine.

Sun is a daughter of one of the well-known businessman in Seoul. She is also a star in underground kickboxing. She was imprisoned by admitting the anomaly that happened in their company.

Nomi is a transwoman from San Francisco with a girlfriend named Amanita. She was a blogger and a hacker. Nomi stands for “Know Me”.

Kala is a pharmacist from Mumbai. She was engaged to Rajan whom she does not love.

Riley is lives in London. She works as a DJ who wanted escape her past in Iceland.

Wolfgang lives in Berlin. He works as a locksmith but has the skill to crack safe boxes. He has unresolved issues with his father and involves in different crimes.

Lito from Mexico City is a closeted actor with a boyfriend named Hernando.

Will lives in Chicago as a police officer who happens to have nightmares from an unsolved murder in his childhood.

Aside from the sensates, there is another person who has the ability like them named Jonas. He is protecting the sensates from the so-called “Whispers”, who leads an organization that wanted to kill the eight individual by connecting into their psychic link.

How will they protect each other from Whispers? Will they actually meet in person or thru their psychic link only?

By the way, there are 12 episodes in season 1. As of this day, season 2 has only 1 episode where the next episodes will be released starting May 2017.

Have you seen this series too?

The Healing Galing Experience

I kept on promoting the Healing Galing products here on my site as an alternative way to cure illnesses. Unknowingly, I will have, my father rather, will be one of the patients through this alternative medicine.

To begin the story, Papa took a week-long vacation at home since our house help left us.

He got a fever the following day. According to Mama, he worked under the rain before going to Bulacan. I gave him paracetamol. Along with the fever, he also got a cough.

After a week of stay at home, he went home because of Nanay, my grandmother, switched as Matthew’s yaya for a while.

Then I receive a call from Mama that Papa’s cough is getting worse. His body weight has dropped. At first, we thought that this is because of his being diabetic

I asked her to bring Papa to a doctor for a check-up. The doctor advised having an x-ray because his cough is already more than a week. The result showed that there is a is a “hilar mass” in his right lung and to have a better diagnostic, he was recommended to have CT-Scan and biopsy and look for a pulmonologist.

I brought Mama and Papa here in Bulacan and seek for a pulmonologist where we got the same recommendation of having a CT-Scan.

The CT-Scan showed that the hilar mass is already about 7 cm and swollen lymph near the heart area were also observed.

I brought back the result to the doctor for interpretation. Just like the first doctor in Nueva Ecija, a biopsy is recommended to determine the status of the hilar mass if it is cancerous of not.

Furthermore, according to the pulmonologist, if the mass is cancerous, with that size, it is already on the 3rd stage.

Papa also sent sputum samples in the laboratory to determine if he has a TB. The result was negative.

We keep these findings from Papa baka kasi mas lumala kapag nalaman nya. We asked him if he is willing to undergo the biopsy but he refused for the fear that this might trigger the cells and may create more problem.

So we suggest trying an alternative thru Healing Galing.

Since there is a nearby branch in Nueva Ecija (San Jose City) and the consultation is free, they visited the place showing the laboratory test results.

Papa was given medication like Calcutab, organic vitamins B1, B6 and B12, Serpentina tablet, and the Healing Oil. He was also given Rhizome Pills because he has signs of having high uric acid.

Aside from the medications, there are also some instructions on the foods to avoid and some lung exercise.

On the first week of medication, Papa started to throw phlegm as he coughs. Then after few days, he started to take out lumps of blood and experience severe pain in his chest area. This gave them scare so I told them to contact Ma'am Cherry, the Naturopathic Practitioner.

According to Ma’am Chery, there is nothing to be scared because the medications were starting to take effect. The lumps or mass in his lung is already starting to expel. His cough will not stop until his lung is cleared.

Papa is already thinking that his condition is already on the severe stage and he may die soon. We just encourage him them to have a positive attitude and he will get better soon.

Papa was also given Tawa-Tawa Tonic to drink after releasing blood.

After more than a month of treatment, the cough is already gone. The medication continues for almost six months now and we are just waiting if Papa is allowed to undergo another X-ray. We are hoping that the results will be clear.

I was happy that because of this experience, there are many friends that started to believe in Naturopathy. Aside from the so-called holistic approach in natural medicine, having Faith in HIM will also help in getting better.

Do you also have experience in Naturopathy?

Switching to Globe DSL

I have been using my current internet service provider for more than 5 years now. However, I made my decision to change it. Sabi nga nila Walang Forever.

I switched to a DSL since according to most reviews, it is better compared to a wireless connection.

A couple of weeks ago, while cleaning the car, there is an agent from Globe offering a slot for a DSL in our area. May isa pa daw na line and open for applicants. I asked the offer and sounds good naman. However, I haven’t committed since I need to cut my current plan.

Globe DSL

After requesting for the cancellation of my subscription, I called the agent and asked if there is still available slot if I am going to apply for DSL installation. Luckily, it is still available so I made the reservation.

The transaction became smooth. I gave my personal profile and commit that the installation will be made the following day. However, it did not proceed since they have a prior commitment with another customer.

I was advised that the installation will be the following day na lang.  Sayang lang kasi I need to left the office earlier tapos hindi din pala maikakabit that day.

Anyways, bumawi naman sila, they are earlier than expected the following day. In less than an hour, the installation is done.

I choose the Globe Broadband Plan 1299 which comes with up to 10Mbps connection speed and 100GB monthly data allocation.

The plan is bundled with a landline with unlimited calls to Globe and Touch Mobile numbers, a standard subscription to HOOQ, NETFLIX and NBA for 6 months.

During the installation, I made a cash out of 1299 as an advance payment but this will be deducted from the first monthly bill.

Speed test

As of now, the browsing speed is faster compared to my previous ISP. Although the said up to 10Mbps speed is not yet attained, it is much faster compared to my previous connection.

Update:
The 24-month lock-in period has lapsed and I renewed to another 24-month contract. However, the new offer for Plan 1299 is 5Mbps with 400GB data capacity which replenishes on the first day of the month. The unlimited calls to Globe/TM is still in the bundle.

What ISP do you have at home?
