Kitchen Adventures: Saucy Crab

Saucy Crab

Sounds “sosyal” and difficult to prepare, right? Try to find out.

I am got this recipe in one of cooking segments in TV. Good timing because I just bought some alimasag few hours earlier. However, the recipe featured fried alimango. Why not try with steamed alimasag?

You will need:
½ kilo crab (alimasag or alimago), steamed
6 cloves of garlic
1 thumb-sized ginger, julienned
¼ cup tausi
1 cup tomato sauce
Salt and pepper to taste

Time to cook:
Prepare the crab - You may also opt for fried one. Just dredge it with ½ cup of cornstarch, salt and pepper then deep fry until cooked. After steaming or frying, cut it into half.

For the sauce – Sauté garlic and ginger and tausi. Add ½ cup of water and tomato sauce, and salt and pepper to taste. Let it simmer for few minutes then add the crabs and simmer for another minute and you’re done.

Easy cooking isn’t it? Another simple but mouth watering dish for the holidays.

Tips:
If you want your crab to be meaty, choose for the male one. On the other hand, you may opt for the female crab if you are craving for more aligue (crab fat).

How to determine a female or a male crab? Turn them upside down like below.

Female: shield-shaped
Male: sword-shaped
